International students must file taxes whether or not they have a Social Security Number (SSN).
Taxes are filed every year. The normal due date is April 15 each year; however, that date is subject to change depending upon unforeseen circumstances and is only changed by the Federal Government.
Reasons to File Taxes
- If you are receiving a scholarship in excess of the tuition costs
- You are employed on the campus
- You have worked during the previous year, regardless of whether you are working this year.
If you fall into any of the categories above, you should receive an email from ²Ø¾«¸ó with tax information.
²Ø¾«¸ó utilizes the services of for our international student body. An email will be sent out with instructions.
if you do not have a SSN you will be required to complete a W-7 form which will need to be submitted to the Federal Reserve to create an ITIN number for you which you will use to complete your tax filings.
Forms and Terms

- Copy of your passport
- Copy of your visa (if you have one)
- Copy of your most recent
- All of the required documents need to be given to your DSO to mail to the IRS processing office.

- (forms supplied by the employer with wages and taxes withheld)
- 1098-T (form provided by the school with tuition, expenses, and scholarships or grants applied to your account)
- If you are unable to obtain a 1098-T you will need to get a copy of your billing statement or ledger for that year. The Bursar's office can provide that for you.
